First Piano Journey Videos

Is your child ready for piano lessons? My First Piano Journey is designed to answer this question. It is 5 child-focused videos that teach the basic fundamentals of the piano in a fun and interactive way. Your child will be playing songs they know and love after the second journey! This course facilitates creativity while helping establish a solid musical foundation.

 If your child successfully completes the journeys and understands the concepts then the answer to your question is YES. Meanwhile you have saved some money on the first months of lessons and gave your child a nice head start so they can start their lessons with confidence. If your child struggles with these courses then the answer is to have them repeat the courses until they understand them. I promise they are a blast, most kids will be asking to do them again anyways! 

Optional Introductory Course: Learning High and Low on the piano (15 mins)

- Some kids instinctively understand where the high notes and the low notes are, others need a little more direction. This course is for those that need a little help :)

Journey #1: Learning the notes CDE (20 mins)

Journey #2: Learning the notes FGAB (18 mins)

Journey #3: Learning finger coordination and finger numbers (19 mins)

Journey #4: Review and Practice 

Some other things to consider:

-This course has been most successful for children ages 5-7.

- Repetition is key! Each adventure is built to be done several times. There are endless improvisation exercises and creative activities that can change each time they do the course. Even if they do well the first time the more they can do it the more prepared they will be for lesson.

⁃ Some of this might just sounds like noise but your child is making important connections from their fingers to their brain

- Piano Lessons can cost anywhere from $50-$200 each month. This is a perfect replacement to test the waters before committing to a teacher and a schedule.

-Any time on the piano is productive. This course will give them some direction for more exploration.

A little more about me:

I was born and raised in Orem, Utah into a family of singers and piano players. I am child number five out of seven and was always the weird one that loved to practice. Getting to play the piano was fun, and it was a privilege. I started taking piano when I was 5, and loved it from the beginning. After being very musically involved in high school I decided to further my music career and was accepted into Brigham Young University’s prestigious School of Music. During my time there I was fortunate to be featured in recitals and perform in various music groups. I took many pedagogy classes and child education classes that taught me the most effective ways to teach young aspiring musicians. I was able to further my knowledge and love for music and learned that my passion was in the teaching. I have taught for 8 years now and have found that my method for teaching beginners is FABULOUS to say the least. So, I wanted to share it with more of you!
